Work. School. Leisurely activities. Responsibilities. There is always going to be something to add to our “to-do list”.
Are you making time in your busy schedule to pray and talk to God? When you do make time, what does that time look like?
I am guilty of not maintaining a consistent prayer life, until I recently learned the importance of daily prayer and devotion time with Him.
Now, I don’t want to start or end my day without talking to God. As well as in everything I do during the day; I seek guidance from him. But again, my prayer life was not always like this. I did not make time to talk or pray to God; my priorities were not aligned to Him and because of that I was living my life for myself instead of living for him.
When I was given this topic “finding time to pray in a crazy world”, my initial thought was, “It’s not about finding the time to pray in a crazy world, but about making time to pray and talk to God daily over everything else that happens in our lives”.
Isaiah 40:29-31 (NKJV) says “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
When I do not make the time to be in solitude with the Lord daily, it reflects on my attitude and how I go about my day. I need Him constantly, as much as I need air to breath.
What does it look like for you to make daily prayer a priority? Are you rushing through prayer? Are you sitting with Him and being intentional to seek Him, so He may fill you up? Don’t just find time to pray in this crazy world; MAKE time.
